People using fake currency are making the headlines today, but this story is a revelation. Three people, all believed to be residents of Madhya Pradesh, have been caught duping bank customers in a unique manner.

The trio used to catch a gullible customer and hand him a bundle of money with currency notes of Rs 500 on top and blank paper underneath. They would take some 'change' money -- up to sums of Rs 2000 -- from him and tell him to hold the bundle as they had some work outside the bank.

The customer would think that since he's holding a big sum of the gang's cash, he need not  worry about his Rs2000. When they did not return, and when he checked the 'bundle' he would realise that he had been taken for a royal ride.

Police have nabbed Sulaiman Mansuri , Nisar Khan Parburiya and Razak Mansuri, whose modus operandi  had been used to cheat several customers this way. AP Parmar, the investigating officer in the case, said: "The three kept a watch for customers and after finding one, they used to hand over notes with currency on top and blank paper underneath. They used to tell them that they needed to deposit the money and would ask the customer for some cash which they would soon return . When they did not come back, the customer would realise that they were being used as scapegoats."

The three were taken after a complaint was filed by one Gajendra Banjara who lost money in a similar incident in the State Bank of India branch in Bapunagar.
