The CPI(M) today condemned the killing of two sisters by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in Kashmir and demanded immediate action to nab the culprits.

The two girls, aged 16 and 18, were dragged out of their house in Sopore town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district and shot dead from point-blank range.

"We strongly condemn this incident and demand that the government immediately launch a manhunt to track down and nab the culprits," CPI(M) Jammu and Kshmir unit secretary Mohd Yousuf Tarigami told PTI.

He said the government should make all efforts to ensure that militants do not raise their heads again in the valley.

According to preliminary investigations by the police, three Lashkar militants barged into the house around 10pm last night and forcibly took the girls, Arifa and Akhtar.
