With danger of swine flu looming large, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) will now form a team that will keep a check on the spread of the virus among people especially before the festive season.

The team would constantly take care of quality of drinking water in different areas, keeping a check on hygiene of food sold by stalls and if waste is disposed properly.
Municipal commissioner Dinesh Brahmbhatt will be in-charge of the team and will supervise the work.

"To make people aware, we have arranged hoardings that will tell about how to take
precautions," said Brahmbhatt.

Brahmbhatt said that they will distribute about 35,000 handbills which will carry information about swine flu.

As many as 70 inspectors would take care of health and sanitation in the Janmashtami fair while over 300 employees are deployed for sanitation.

Two health centers of RMC would function even on holidays where people could be provided help.  People with symptoms of suspected swine flu can contact the RMC office and a medical team would be at place to help them out, said Brahmbhatt.

"We have so far checked school children at over 350 schools primarily and about 27
foreign visitors staying at various hotels," said Brahmbhatt.
