Not satisfied with CBI’s reply on the allegation that it leaked Ajmer blast accused Swami Aseemanand’s confessional statement to the media, a Delhi court pulled up the agency on Tuesday and told its director to file a comprehensive rejoinder by February 25.

CBI has filed a two-page brief report refuting the allegation by RSS functionary Devendra Gupta, arrested for his role in the blast.

“CBI has not released to the media the statement under section 164 CrPC of Aseemananad or even the fact that he had made a confessional statement as it was felt that it would jeopardise the investigation. However, an internal fact-finding enquiry has been instituted in the matter,” the agency said.

“It is not a complete report,” court said.

The court also pointed out that the report was not signed by the CBI director, though the agency claimed it had the director’s approval.

The court said, “Even if the CBI director is an approver he should have signed it but it is not reflected in the report.”
