CBI traps railway doctor for 'taking bribe'

The CBI sleuths arrested a medial superintendent of a railway hospital in Kazipet town of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly taking Rs1 lakh as bribe.

The Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths today arrested a medial superintendent of a railway hospital (South Central Railways) in Kazipet town of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly taking Rs1 lakh as bribe.

Dr J Muralidhar Goud, medical superintendent at railway hospital in Kazipet town of Warangal district was caught red-handed by CBI sleuths, accepting a bribe of Rs1 lakh from a complainant, for processing bills of a private hospital, a release from the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch here said.

The medical superintendent had been demanding the amount from the complainant for processing bills of Rs30 lakh of a private hospital which is treating referred patients from Kazipet railway hospital.

"Bills worth Rs30 lakh pertaining to the complainant were kept pending by the accused (Goud) for the past six months, as his demand for bribe amount was not met," the release said.

The CBI team was conducting searches at Goud's residence and further investigations were on.
