The leader of the opposition, Ratan Lal Nath (Congress) has demanded CBI inquiry into the admission of the son of the private secretary to Tripura health minister Tapan Chakraborty in the state-run Tripura Insitute of Technology (TIT).

In a letter to chief minister Manik Sarkar yesterday, Nath said the private secretary of the Health minister used his office and influenced the TIT authorities for admission of his son and demanded investigation by CBI.

He threatened that unless the admission was cancelled, the opposition Congress would launch statewide protest to press for their demand to hand over the case to CBI.

He alleged that one Anirban Biswas, son of Ashok Biswas, the private secretary to the health and education minister, had secured less than 50% marks, but was admitted to the mechanical stream of TIT this year when 220 seats in eight courses in the college were filled up on the basis of merit with candidates securing more than 50% marks in English, Physics and Mathematics.

A group of guardians who came to know about it and filed a petition according to the Right to Information Act recently. The report also said that the candidate produced a 'hearing handicapped'certificate.

However, Nath told reporters that the certificate of 'hearing handicapped' was also forged.
