Advocate shot dead, lawyers block highway

An advocate was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne persons at his residence near Meerut-Pauri highway, following which the district lawyers blocked the road, police said here today.
 
Advocate Kapil Bishnoi was shot dead yesterday by three men, they said, adding he was rushed to a district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
 
Soon after the incident, police chased the fleeing accused but the culprits managed to escape.
 
The victim’s brother Sharad Bishnoi has lodged a report with the police accusing four persons in the matter.
 
It is believed that Kapil, who fought a case as a defence lawyer against the wishes of some gangsters, was shot dead by them.
  
Bijnor lawyers jammed the national highway protesting against their colleagues' murder and demanded arrest of the accused.
 
President of District Bar Association Sanjeev Kumar Bablee said that till the murderers were arrested, lawyers would demonstrate.
