Referring to the Delhi University teacher who was recently convicted for links with the Naxals, an ABVP leader today said there were "hundreds of Saibaba" at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

"We encounter hundreds of Saibaba everyday in JNU," said Janhavi Ojha, an ABVP leader. G N Saibaba, a Delhi University professor, was given life term by a court in Maharashtra earlier this month for his links with Naxals. Ojha was speaking on `Girl Uninterrupted: Left, Right, or My Right' at India Today Conclave here.

Other participants were the activist Sabika Abbas Naqvi and All India Students Association leader Shehla Rashid, "Campus elections have been empowering for me and I realised it after taking a stand....I don't see any difference between the Naxals in rural areas and the urban ones. We encounter hundreds of Saibaba everyday in JNU," Ojha said. Rashid said that women who take a stand get abused irrespective of their ideology.

"We must admit that we are a patriarchal, casteist and unequal society. There are issues of women that are above any ideology," she said. Sabika said that India has a "culture of masculine society". "We have to de-construct the binary of left or right issues when it comes to women's rights," she said.
