Taking a jibe at Ram Jethmalani over his controversial comment on Lord Ram, Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay on Friday said the noted criminal lawyer might be well known for his advocacy, but does not have enough knowledge of the country's mythology

The Ranchi MP said Jethmalani was never proficient enough to enter the political arena

"He is too small to speak on (Lord) Ram's dignity. He is well known for his advocacy, but his knowledge about the country's mythology is too less," he added

Another Congress leader Rashid Masood hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Jethmalani's comment, saying the leaders of the main opposition party spearheaded the Ram Temple movement and the Hindutva agenda just to gain political mileage, but have no faith in Lord Ram

"The BJP leaders have no faith in Lord Ram. They believe in power. They invoked the name of Lord Ram to gain power, as he is highly revered deity," he said

Jethmalani had earlier on Thursday referred to Lord Ram, the protagonist in the epic 'Ramayana', as a bad husband for sending his wife Sita to exile for no specific reason

"Ram was a bad husband. I don't like him at all. Just because some fisherman said something, he sent that poor woman (Sita) to vanvaas (exile). Lakshman was even worse. When Sita was abducted, Ram asked him to go find her as she was abducted under his watch. Lakshman simply excused himself saying she was his sister-in-law and he never looked at her face, so he wouldn't be able to identify her," he said at a book release function here.
