To continue strong bilateral relations between the two countries, US President Donald Trump will speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi late on Tuesday.

Trump is scheduled to speak to Modi at 11.30 pm Indian time.

Last week, PM Modi congratulated Prez Trump on assuming the office and said he looked forward to working with him to further deepen the bilateral ties and realise the full potential of their cooperation.

The Prime Minister also said that the strength of the India-US strategic partnership "lies in our shared values and common interests".

Before the US Presidential elections, calling India as a "key strategic ally", Trump had promised India and the US would become "best friends" if he was voted to power and have a "phenomenal future" together.

"Under a Trump Administration, we are going to become even better friends, in fact I would take the term better out and we would be best friends," Trump, had said to a cheering crowd of Indian-Americans at a charity event organised by the Republican Hindu Coalition.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's 'Buy American-hire American' rallying cry has put the $150- billion Indian IT industry on edge, which is in a wait-and-watch mode to see how the new administration evolves policies around outsourcing and movement of skilled workers.
