UP government striving towards bringing about all-round improvement: CM Akhilesh Yadav

Stressing on use of modern technology in the police force for improving its functioning and response time, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said his government is continuously striving towards bringing an all-round change.

"The state government is continuously working for bringing an improvement in the working in all spheres. On the one hand, we are working on the infrastructure, farmers and on the other, we are also trying to give better facilities to the common people," the chief minister said.

"We have to continuously work to improve by using new technology... although the country and the state are very big and the problems too are different, we are making efforts to improve police functioning as well as law and order in the state," Yadav said.

The chief minister, who inaugurated a modern control room, special mobile app for the 1090 women powerline besides 'Rani Laxmibai Mahila Samman Kosh', whose logo was also unveiled on the occasion, said 1090 has been emulated in other states and the app, once it proves to be successful here, would also be emulated.

Lauding the officials of the state police department, he said that 'Samman Kosh' being set up today would get an allocation of Rs 100 crores in the next 2015-16 budget which would also be increased as required.

Contributions would also be taken from the common people and companies, he said, adding, he is making an individual contribution of Rs one lakh to the 'kosh'.

The chief minister said that his government has also decided to felicitate 20 girl sportspersons making special contribution every year with 'Rani Laxmibai Veerta Puraskar' carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh, besides honouring 20 'mahila pradhans' doing exemplary work with a one lakh reward.

"Rani Laxmi bai Asha Jyoti kendras will be set up at 11 places in the state and during the annual evaluation of state officials and employees, their sensitivity and behaviour towards women would also be entered in their records," he added.
