Two IT engineers drown in Pavana dam while clicking pictures

The deceased have been identified as Ved Prakash Rana (28) resident of Nagpur and Mohit Jadhav (28) resident of Jalgaon.

Craze to click pictures in unknown water proved deadly for two IT engineers as they drowned in a backwater of Pavna dam on Sunday afternoon. The IT engineers had gone for outing near the dam with group of friends. 

The deceased have been identified as Ved Prakash Rana (28) resident of Nagpur and Mohit Jadhav (28) resident of Jalgaon. They both were working at IT companies based in Hinjewadi IT park. According to Lonavala rural police, Rana and Jadhav along with seven other IT engineers had gone for two days trip at Pavana dam.

The police officer said, "After staying in lodge on Saturday night, the group went for outing on Sunday morning. After reaching backwater of the dam, Jadhav along with another friend entered into water to click photos." 

"While clicking picture, they did not realise the depth of the water and they started drowning. Seeing them struggling in the water, Rana and another friend jumped into the water to save them, but they also started drowning. After other members of the groups started shouting for help, the local people rushed to the spot and they managed to take out both friends of the duo out of water but they could not save Rana and Jadhav," the police officer said.

Later in the day, both the bodies were fished out with the help of volunteers of Shivdurg Mitra group.
