Two persons have been arrested by the customs for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 35 lakh at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here.

One of the accused had arrived from Dubai via Male and Thiruvananthpuram by an Air India flight yesterday. He had given gold in the form of six bars to another accused, who boarded the same plane from Thiruvananthpuram to Delhi, as per a press release issued today by the customs.

The gold was concealed in rectum by the domestic passenger, it said.

The gold, valued at Rs 35.36 lakh, has been seized and the accused have been arrested.
