Three terrorists killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, arms and ammunition recovered

Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Vailoo area of Kokernag in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said. All terrorists have been killed in the encounter.

Bodies of the killed terrorists were retrieved from the site of encounter and they have been identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar alias Sameer resident of Danwathpora Kokernag, Ubaid Shafi alias Abdullah resident of Batamaloo Srinagar, and Aqib Ahmad Lone alias Sahil resident of Khandaypora Kulgam.

As per police records, all the killed terrorists were linked with proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and part of the groups involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and security establishments.

It is pertinent to mention that terrorist Ubaid Shafi was part of the terrorist group involved in carrying out the attack at Aaribagh area of Nowgam in Srinagar on April 1, 2021, in which one Constable Rameez Ahmad attained martyrdom.

Arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, two pistols, and incriminating materials have also been recovered from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.

On May 6, three Al-Badr terrorists were killed and one surrendered before the security forces after an encounter in the Shopian district. The presence of terrorists in the area was ascertained during the search operation and all of them were given an opportunity to surrender, according to police.
