The spirit of give and take should be the guiding principle for the heads of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, who are embroiled in controversies, as the two states formally come into existence tomorrow, a senior BJP leader has said.

"Give and take and spirit of reconciliation is the guiding principle. I do not think these cannot be solved when the leaderships of (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) sit together," BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao told PTI. His observations comes at a time when the Chief Minister- designates of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are engaged in "war of words" over a series of issues ranging from Polavaram to Government employees.

The senior BJP leader also stressed that both the states must focus on common interests, instead of turning their attention to conflicts and raising "settled" issues. "Today, raising the issues, which are taken as settled will ultimately create problems in some other areas. In my view, I have already indicated that Seemandhra and Telangana have got lot of common interests. We have to work on those common interests, instead of focusing on conflicts," he said, while replying to opposition by TRS for transfer of seven mandals, which are crucial for executing Polavaram multi- purpose Project.

Asked about reports of 'War Room' set up by TRS, allegedly to drive out public servants, who do not belong to Telangana from Hyderabad, he said that spirit of confrontation has no life in coming days because the larger issue of Telangana creation is now over. "It is not going to help the country at the national level that two Telugu speaking States, even after bifurcation with war with each other. How it is going to help in terms of investment, development and prosperity?," Rao, who hails from Karimnagar in Telangana replied to a query on whether the Chief Ministers of both the States must work "hand-in-hand".

He further said that his message was both for TRS Chief K Rao and TDP supremo Naidu. The two leaders are all set to become Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, respectively. "Not only to KCR, it is a message to Chandrababu Naidu and KCR both," he added.

Pointing out that the newly-carved out Telangana State is not without people from Seemandhra region, he said insecurity among Telugu people in Telangana will have bearing on the reputation of Telangana. "Telangana, even after bifurcation is not without the population, which has come from Seemandhra. So sense of insecurity among Telugu people living in Telangana is not going to enhance the prestige and reputation of either Telangana or Telangana government," he added.

Rao also underlined that both the States must understand the interests of their counterparts and should not fight for small issues, which could be resolved through reconciliation.

On representation for Telangana in the union cabinet, Rao was confident that the Narendra Modi's Government will look into the matter and address the issue.
