Sonia Gandhi to meet rain-hit farmers in Rajasthan

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be on a one-day visit to Kota district of Rajasthan on March 20 to meet the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to unseasonal rains.

"The party president will be on a one-day visit to Rajasthan and will speak to the farmers in Kota region about the losses due to the rainfall," Rajasthan PCC Vice President Archana Sharma said.

PCC President Sachin Pilot will go to Kota on Thursday to review the preparations for Gandhi's visit.

Earlier in the week, unexpected rain caused damage to standing Rabi crops in at least 20 districts of Rajasthan.

The state government has directed district officials to conduct surveys to assess crop losses and submit a report to the government at the earliest.
