Identified as Pal Singh and Baljinder Singh, the duo has been arrested from Ganganagar
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police arrested two men on Tuesday, who are wanted criminals of Haryana state and had a major role in the violence spread after the arrest of self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
Identified as Pal Singh and Baljinder Singh, the duo has been arrested from Ganganagar. “The duo are natives of Goluwala. A few days back, the SOG had received an input that two men - accused of the violence at Panchkula in Haryana after the infamous Dera Sacha Sauda issue - were hiding somewhere in Goluwala area. A team headed by Inspector Vijay Rai was formed comprising of head constables Chandrapal, Sukhvinder and Constables Narendra,
Mahipal Singh and Mahiram was formed,” said Sanjay Shotriya, SP - SOG.
The team was tasked with identifying the duo and develop further leads. Highly placed sources in the SOG revealed that they did not want the men to conduct any crime in the state. Moreover, the team was tasked with only observing their movements till further notice. “Meanwhile, the senior officials contacted Haryana police after the team ascertained the duo’s identity. The information was shared with Haryana police and orders were given to the SOG team to move in and nab the duo. The duo was arrested and a team of Haryana police also reached in the meantime. The men were then handed to the Haryana police,” officials said.
It should be noted that the Dera chief and self-styled Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted of rape by CBI court in Panchkula on 25th August following which violence spread in Panchkula and Sirsa districts as hundreds of Dera supporters took to streets. The violence resulted in the death of forty-one people.
