The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje is all set to embark on a tour across the state from Apil 15. The yatra would begin from Charbhuja and would last for around four months. The Yara would be very much on the lines of the Gujarat Gaurav Yatra. This would be the third major pre-poll yatra Raje would embark on in Rajasthan.

The preparations for the yatra are underway and plans would be finalized once Raje returns from her Sriganganagar tour this month. According to reliable sources who did not wish to be named, “The yatra could tentatively be named Suraj Gaurav Yatra or Vikas Gaurav Yatra. Like the last yatra, it will begin from Charbhuja, but will not follow the same route taken last time.”

The yatra would last between 74 to 80 days and be intermittently spread over four months. “The yatra would have breaks in between as government works need the chief minister’s attention. The striking thing about the yatra would be that relevant officers would also be present. The problems and grievances collected during the day would be redressed later in the evening after the yatra halts for the day,” added another source.

All senior leaders of the state BJP, ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior national leaders would be present in the yatra as it crosses their district and constituency. “All will be included in the yatra and it would be an opportune time for any leader to complete all pending works. National leaders and leaders from other states who have a charisma among the public would also be part of the yatra at different stages” said another source.

The yatra is being undertaken to turn the tide in favour of BJP. The recent bypoll debacle had served to galvanize the party and it plans to leave no stone unturned to return to power. But the Congress is terming it as a futile exercise and has claimed that the next elections will see it coming back to power, “Total 611 promises were made during the last yatra. Had Raje government fulfilled them, there would no need for this yatra. All sections of the public are upset. Congress is all set to win not just the assembly elections, but also the parliamentary elections next year,” said Raghu Sharma, the newly elected Congress MP from Ajmer.
