Hours after a team of Delhi Police officials arrested the kingpin of Delhi Apollo kidney racket, T Rajkumar Rao from his residence in Kolkata’s Rajarhat, police made yet another arrest in connection with the racket.

Rao’s close aide, Dipak Kar, before surrendering at the Baguihati police station, confessed in front of reporters that he used to work with Rao and earn a remuneration of Rs.8,000-Rs.10,000. “I used to work with Rao and earn a small amount. I used to travel frequently to southern India for the kidney transplant,” said Kar. Kar was arrested by the police immediately after he surrendered at the police station.

Earlier in the day, Rao was produced before the Barasat court and was sent to three days of transit remand.

Rao had been residing in Kolkata for the last 18 years and is believed to be running the kidney racket in Delhi from the city.

He was arrested from his residence amidst a house warming party, which he had thrown and over 250 local residents were invited to his party. He even owned two lavish bungalows in Kolkata’s Rajarhat area.

Soon after his arrest, the police began probing to find out if he is involved in any such racket in the city.

Three more accused in the case, arrested earlier also hailed from West Bengal. Sleuths believe that more people involved in the nexus could be from the state.
