Addressing the nation in his 29th edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi said that only four-five countries have the powerful Ballistic Interceptor Missile and that missile, based on the interception technology during its trial, destroyed an enemy missile 100 km above the ground.

Earlier this month an indigenously developed interceptor missile successfully destroyed an incoming ballistic missile in a direct hit, demonstrating the capability of India?s Ballistic Missile Shield (BMD), which is under development.
The BMD is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as a two layered system to tackle incoming targets at endo and exo atmospheres.
