As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes one year in office this month, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said people will judge his performance and mere slogans will not work.

"People will assess the works of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the past one year...Now slogans alone will not serve any purpose," Yadav said here. The Chief Minister was answering reporters' questions on the sidelines of a function at Siddharth University, Kapilvastu, as to how he viewed Modi government's performance.

To another question, Yadav said people of UP-origin who were affected by Nepal earthquake will be extended relief by the state government after a survey. He said Kapilvastu will get its rightful place in tourism and six villages in the area will be adopted under the Janeshwar Misra village uplift programme.

As the entry of public was restricted in chief minister's programmes where he carried out inspection of the ongoing work of Siddharth University and darshan of Lord Buddha at Kapilvastu, restive locals raised slogans against the district unit president of Samajwadi Party.

Meanwhile taking note of complaints of laxity on the part of some government officials during his visit, the chief minister suspended Chief Medical Officer (CMO) V K Gupta, Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) Kaushal Kishore and District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) B D Pandey and ordered stern action against some other officials, an official spokesman later said.
