Nashik civil hospital has prepared yet another ward to deal with the increasing number of swine flu patients. The hospital already has an equipped isolation ward, where patients showing symptoms of swine flu are admitted.
The number of swine flu cases in the district has gone up to 12.

Informing about the new ward, additional civil surgeon Rajendra Dusane said considering that the number of patients is increasing, the administration has made a stand-by provision. The administration is also creating awareness among patients, dispensing important information on the disease and virus through radio and newspapers, Dusane added.

The new ward has 10 beds, four more than the existing ward, which is sufficient for the time being as only four patients have been admitted.

After the first symptomatic case was encountered in Sinnar, an isolation ward was created in Sinnar rural hospital. But no other tehsil has such a facility, and hence, patients from all over the district will be admitted to the Nashik hospital.

Nashik civil hospital is well equipped with ventilator and medicines, authorities emphasised. The administration also takes daily reports from every primary health centre and rural hospitals in the district.

In the meanwhile, a 58-year-old, Jagdish Khairnar, from New Cidco area in Nashik died due to swine flu-like symptoms on Monday during treatment, as did a seven-year-old, Darshan Suryavanshi, who was initially admitted to a private hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia but was shifted to Nashik civil hospital after his condition worsened.
