Second major fire in two days broke out at Mumbai's Deonar dumping ground on Sunday night. On Saturday night too, fire had broken out at Deonar dumping ground.

10 fire engines and 8 water tankers have been rushed to the site.

According to reports, miscreants might be involved in Sunday night's fire. However, there is no confirmation regarding the same.

According to the residents, on Saturday they were witnessing smog in the area throughout the day before the huge fire broke out at night around 10.30 pm.

Earlier in January, a major fire at the dumping ground had led the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to shutdown 74 schools run by it for two-days as smoke from the site caused breathing trouble to the residents.

Parts of Mumbai were engulfed in a thick blanket of smog due to the fire. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had ordered a probe into the fire and smog by a panel headed by a senior IPS officer. In subsequent weeks, several small fires have been reported from the garbage disposal site.
