Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is on a three-day visit to Patna to review the functioning of the outfit's local wings and to strengthen it at the grassroots, in what is believed to be a preparation for the 2019 general election.

Bhagwat reached Patna on Tuesday evening, met social activists and functionaries of the Sangh, and sought feedback regarding their activities in the state. "Some discussions regarding future strategies also took place," a source said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bhagwat was in Bhagalpur, where he met some select party cadre and urged them to be devoted and dedicated towards the country. "Bhagwat also told the members that they were with the 'Sant Samaaj' on the Ayodhya dispute and were ready to contribute towards spreading awareness about the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said the Sangh will try to unify the nation on the issue," the source said.

Bhagwat will now visit Sonepur on Thursday. "He will meet members of the Sant Samaaj and talks on the Ayodhya issue are likely to take place," the source said. He is also scheduled to meet Bihar governor Lalji Tandon.
