The police on Friday detained 7 workers in Kolkata in connection with the IVRCL flyover collapse, according to police sources. These are said to be labour heads at the Kolkata flyover construction site. However, it was not confirmed whether these were indeed employees of IVRCL or independent contractors hired by the company. 

Kolkata police has set up a special investigation team which has been sent to Hyderabad to investigate IVRCL flyover collapse. The Kolkata police had raided the headquarters of IVRCL. The police sources also said that they had raided the residence of an IVRCL Director, only to find that he was not there. However, it is not known which residence of the company has 9 directors have been raided.

The police source also said that they also found the offices of IVRCL closed and the workers had fled.

Earlier, 3 FIR's have been filed against IVRCL infrastructure company at Jorasanko Police Station on Thursday over the Kolkata flyover tragedy where it is confirmed that 24 are dead and over 80 people injured. 

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Debasish Boral told reporters on Thursday that the local office of the company has been sealed and a case registered against it under IPC sections 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt cto commit culpable homicide) and 407 (criminal breach of trust by carrier, etc). There were reports that IVRCL employees fled their office premises in Hyderabad after the incident occurred.

Later, KP Rao, IVRCL official said, it is not their fault. He said, "KMDA officials used to oversee the job. 70% work was done without any problems, don't know what happened suddenly."

IVRCL had also been blacklisted by two state governments ie, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand earlier, according to media reports.
