BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, who exposed the alleged money-laundering scam involving Chhagan Bhujbal and his family members, has further alleged that the Bhujbal bungalow in Nashik was built by a well-known builder in return for highway and toll contracts in the state. Somaiya has demanded that an inquiry be lodged into this matter.

Naming the chairman of Ashoka Buildcon, Ashok Kataria, and his son Ashish, Somaiya alleged that the firm had built the lavish bungalow at the Bhujbals' farm in return for contracts for highways and toll nakas in the state. The bungalow is worth Rs100 crore, he said, adding that there were entries of Rs40 crore, which goes to prove that Bhujbal had taken the favour in return for the road and toll contracts. "I had been saying this earlier and now the confirmed entries have proved it," Somaiya said in Nashik.

He met the police commissioner there and discussed various issues with him, including the Maiterya investment scam.

Somaiya also went to visit the Bhujbals' farm, but was stopped by the police. He then stood some feet away from the premises and said that he was here to tell people that the lavish structure with swimming pools and other amenities was a gift to Bhujbal as a kickback.

"The scam in this regard could range from Rs5-75 crore. I have filed a complaint with all the agencies concerned, including the police, anti-corruption bureau, income tax department and Enforcement Directorate," Somaiya said.

He further alleged that in 2012-13, Katariya took Bhujbal to South Africa in a special jet to watch the FIFA World Cup, making arrangements for a special box from which to view the games. All this amounts to corruption, Somaiya said.

"I started this battle when my government (the BJP) was not in power and I am going to continue it to bring to the fore the corrupt tendencies of such people. I want to expose the likes of Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare and Ashok Chavan, who have looted the people's money and will have to go to jail for that," Somaiya said.

Meanwhile, as the news about Somaiya heading towards the Bhujbals' farm spread, NCP workers began to assemble to block his path. The police, however, managed to stop them at the NCP office on the Mumbai-Agra highway and avoided a law-and-order situation.

The NCP workers, led by MLC Jayant Jadhav, had gathered in large numbers, with many women workers among them. They raised slogans against Somaiya and the BJP. "Why, and in what capacity, is Somaiya visiting the Bhujbals' farm? The ED is doing its job. Who is Somaiya to visit the farm?" questioned one of the activists.
