A college principal from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh has said that the Indian society does nit permit girls to have boyfriends, reports News18

The news is pertinent following the permission given to anti-Romeo squads across the state by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the fact that the Hindu Yuva Vahini have placed themselves outside universities and colleges. The anti-Romeo squads were meant to run by the state police.

"Girls shouldn't have boyfriends for Indian society doesn't permit us to have boyfriends. We have ensured that the relatives aren't harassed," the principal of the Raghunath College said.

She also said that she had banned the use of mobile phones in college.

The female students in the college have said that they were facing a lot of restrictions. They even opposed boys being picked up for meeting a girl. "That is not done. Aren't we allowed to talk to guys? A guy can be a friend, a classmate or a brother. If the girl is saying that the boy is my friend, he should not be picked up," said a student.
