Bollywood's most famous item-girl, Rakhi Sawant who is in the fray from the Mumbai North West constituency said in an exclusive interview to dna, that she did not want to be a “slave” of any party, and that's the reason behind the formation of her party, the Rashtriya Aam Party. She also added that the BJP offered her a seat from Shrirampur in West Bengal but she refused to take up the opportunity, as she wanted to work for her own people, from her own area. She said “The biggest party (BJP) had offered me a ticket to contest from Shrirampur. But, I do not know the local language, nor am I familiar with the local problems. Also, I do not want to be a parachute (airdropped) candidate. I am proud that I am contesting from the area where I live. I am not a showpiece. “ expressing the desire to solve the issues of local people.

In a seperate interview to dna, Sawant said that her party will mainly address the issues of providing emplyment to the youth, and preventing domestic violence if it comes to power. She also ensured that if the Rashtriya Aam Party came to power, Sawant will prevent corruption in hospitals and make old age homes for women who can't earn their livelihood. 

Sawant is fighting against Gurudas Kamat of Congress, Mahesh Manjrekar of MNS and Mayank Gandhi of AAP from the Mumbai North West constituency.
