Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday slammed those who were allegedly trying to make political capital out of the protests of Anganwadi workers and took a veiled dig at CITU, CPI(M)- affiliated trade union, saying their attempts to create "trouble" in the state will not be allowed.

Khattar also took strong exception to the "misguided" statements of the opposition parties on the issue of Anganwadi workers.

The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union (affiliated to CITU and Sarv Karamchari Sangh) have been holding protests for the past 23 days in the state in support of their various demands including regularisation of services.

As opposition Congress and INLD raked up the Anganwadi workers issue in the state Assembly on Tuesday, Chief Minister Khattar gave a detailed reply on the steps which his government has taken for their welfare.

During the course of his reply, Khattar took a swipe at the Left party body who is backing the protests, saying "Lal Rang Ki Badmashi" will not be allowed in the state.

He also said that many factories in the state had been shut in the past because of "Lal Rang" (Leftists) people, who have had to bite dust at electoral hustings in states which were their citadels.

At the same time, the Chief Minister appealed the Angwadi workers to join their work as several decisions have been taken in their interest which never saw the light of the day before in the tenure of previous regimes, he claimed.

He said that state government has categorised the Anganwadi workers as skilled and semi-skilled besides enhancing the monthly wages of skilled Anganwadi workers to Rs 11,429.

The monthly wages of semi-skilled workers have been increased to Rs 10,286 and of helpers to Rs 5,715. With this, the Anganwadi workers would be able to get all the benefits as admissible to skill and semi-skilled workers including Provident Fund (PF). The

Government would also consider their demand of holidays, he assured.

Khattar said that a meeting was held with the representatives of three unions of Anganwadi workers here which have welcomed these decisions.
