Ghaziabad: TV journalist shot at inside his home, police suspects personal enmity
In a shocking incident, a TV journalist working with Sahara Samay was shot at inside his Ghaziabad home on Sunday evening.
According to the latest statement released by the Ghaziabad Police, the victim has been identified as Anuj Chaudhary.
The police suspect it be a case of personal enmity.
Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna said that unidentified gunmen barged inside Chaudhary’s Kavi Nagar residence around 7:30 pm today and attacked him. The fled the scene on bike and were wearing helmets to hide their identity.
Chaudhary's wife Nisha was elected a councilor on a BSP ticket, according to a police officer.
The TV journalist suffered 3 bullet injuries, 2 in hands and one in stomach. He has been admitted in nearby hospital.
Senior police officials have filed the case after registering statement of the victim. They have also formed four teams to investigate the case.
This is not the first time a journalist has been attacked. Last month, a murder of a journalist was caught on camera in Madhya Pradesh.
Sandeep Sharma, a journalist with a national news channel, was probing a possible nexus between the police and the sand mafia.
In a chilling CCTV footage, Sharma was seen riding a motorcycle with a dumpster behind him veering to crush him.
The journalist had earlier filed a police complaint about threat to his life.
In Bihar, a local journalist was killed when an SUV rammed into his bike in Bhojpur district last month, with the family alleging that it was a case of murder and a former village head was behind it.
Before this, in January, a senior journalist was chased and attacked by two people in Lucknow.
Navalkant Sinha was beaten up by two attackers, who threatened him with more such attacks.
