The Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha constituency consists of six segments - Amgaon, Armori, Gadchiroli, Aheri, Brahmapuri and Chimur. It’s a Scheduled Tribe reserved constituency which is heavily-infested by Maoists.

It has only five candidates in the fray, the least in the state.

Congress rebel Harishchandra Kirsan withdrew his nomination. His withdrawal came as a relief to Congress candidate Dr Namdeo Usendi. Candidates will get just 12 days to campaign in this forested district with Maoists giving a call to boycott polls.

Dr Ashok Nete of the BJP had won in 2014 and he will be hoping to repeat the victory.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Ashok Nete of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – won with a huge margin of almost 2.36 lakh votes. He had defeated Indian National Congress (INC) Namdeo Usendi.

In the year 2009, Marotrao Kowase of the INC managed to secure his winning position by getting 28 thousand votes against Nete.

Maha Showdown

In 2014, BJP and Shiv Sena won 23 and 18 seats respectively. The Congress just got two while the NCP won 4 and Swabhimani Paksha got 1.  In 2019, the BJP and Sena alliance is set to take on the Congress-NCP alliance.
