Ending speculations, on Sunday, former Hurriyat Conference chairman Professor Abdul Gani Bhat denied meeting center's special representative Dineshwar Sharma, although a group of Muslim Conference leaders recently removed him from the position of president and reposed full faith in the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL).

"I did not meet Sharma. However, two persons — a Kashmiri Pandit and a non-local –met me on the evening of November 27.

Some people are churning conspiracies and based on guess work and creating confusion," Bhat told a local news agency.

Batting for a dialogue, the former Hurriyat chairman said talks without Pakistan cannot be fruitful. He also noted that he would open his cards in the next few days, regardless of whether he remains a part of the Hurriyat or not.

"I don't play politics on the blood and tears of masses. There is no place for dictatorship in a movement. Dictatorship can happen in politics, but not in a movement which is fighting for a cause," Bhat said.

Even as the former Hurriyat chairman tried to steer clear from any controversy, a group of his party leaders held an emergency meeting and expelled him from the post of president of the Muslim Conference.

"The meeting between Bhat and the centre's interlocutor has send shock waves across resistance leadership and the people of Kashmir. Muslim Conference (MC) held an emergency meeting and appointed Mohommad Sultan Magray as its interim president for six months. Manzoor ul Haq Bhat has been appointed vice president," said Magray.

Earlier, Bhat wrote to Mirwaiz informing him that he has expelled Manzoor, who was MC's representative in Pakistan, from the basic membership of the party. "In exercise of the authority vested in me, I hereby expel you from the basic membership of the organisation and shall therefore cease to represent MC in any respect at any level," Bhat said in the letter.
