Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hit out at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee at two rallies – Bolpur in Birbhum and Ranaghat in Nadia – here on Wednesday.
"Didi, if you don't want to learn from Modi, at least learn from the UAE. Such has been our friendship that a temple has been built at Abu Dhabi. On the contrary, in Bengal, people cannot celebrate even Durga Puja and Ram Navami," Modi said at Bolpur.
He added that as a result of increased strength of India, it was possible to rescue a girl from Bengal who was abducted in Afghanistan. "We did it with the constant use of diplomatic channels. We solved land dispute with Bangladesh which was kept in abeyance for decades. The TMC, however, is bringing in infiltrators across the border," Modi added.
Replying to Mamata's allegation that Modi had spent four and a half years out of five touring foreign countries, Modi said, "I read in news reports about Didi talking about my foreign trips. It is because of those visits that the voice of 130 crore Indians have been taken to the world. Five years ago, it was so difficult to get the support of the international community on any issue. Today they stand beside us. It is after Modi government coming to power that we negotiated oil prices and brought it down. It is because of the strong India that the corrupt had been booked and brought back to India. Many countries have now agreed to share information real-time with us in case any Indian deposits black money at banks in those countries."
He said it was the effect of his government that Saudi Arabia had released 800 prisoners. "When the crown prince of Saudi Arabia had come to India I told him that Muslims in India were growing economically strong and requested him to increase the quota for Haj. He increased it by two lakh," Modi said.
