Rishi Kapoor is bearing the brunt from the Congress for his tweets over naming of assets by Gandhi family. However, Anupam Kher, Raza Murad and Ashok Pandit among others have shown their support for the actor.
The Congress workers staged a protest outside Rishi Kapoor's residence in Mumbai on Wednesday over his "Baap ka maal samjh rakha thaa'' jibe at the Gandhis and alleged that the actor had links with the BJP and RSS.
One of the Congress protestors said Rishi Kapoor has denounced the Nehru-Gandhi family with his unwarranted remark. "He has earned money by dancing and drama where as Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have given their lives for the nation. Rishi Kapoor is a BJP, RSS guy and if he continues to defame the Nehru-Gandhi family then we will make his life difficult," he added.
Another protester echoing similar sentiments said the actor is making such comments to please the BJP top brass. "Was Rishi Kapoor sleeping till today? Nehru-Gandhi family has given lives for this nation. He is doing this to make the top rung of the BJP happy. We will not allow the screening of his films in theatres," he said.
The actor had earlier in a series of tweets slammed the grand old Party and the Gandhi family for keeping the names of every roadway and railways after them. He has received support from many industrywallas like Anupam Kher, Raza Murad and Ashok Pandit.
Murad said, "Rishi Kapoor has every right to speak his mind. Rishi Kapoor is a free citizen and has every right to express his mind. I completely agree with him. Why all airports are being named after politicians? There are many like Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor who have contributed a lot for the country."
Ashok Pandit claimed, "During the rule of Congress, we found no difference between them and the British Raj. According to them, no one except the Nehru family and Gandhi family have contributed anything to the society. They have named everything after the names of their family members."
