From laser show to mega aarti on banks of Saryu, it would be a very special Diwali for Ayodhya this year.

As part of Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath's grand plans, 1.71 lakh earthen diyas will be lit up to make a Guinness World Record.

In an interview to Zee News, CM Yogi said that the 'Deepotsav' is part of a grand plan to revive Ayodhya as a tourist centre.

Talking about the celebrations and the importance of the ancient city, CM Yodi said, "Ramayan is 10,000 years old and Ayodhya is an integral part of it. It was a developed city even back then and people continue to come here from all over. To connect with its illustrious past is a matter of pride for us," he said.

According to a News18 report, an event management company from Gujarat has been hired specifically for this job. According to the report, a diya will be placed on every square metre in the entire city.

Over 2,000 students of Faizabad's RML Awadh University  are reportedly volunteering for the event. Over 10,000 temples across the city will be decorated and a laser show will showcase the Ramayana story during the event.

Earlier, UP Governor Ram Naik had said that the years of neglect faced by Ayodhya would go this year.

He said the celebrations on Diwali are intended to promote Ayodhya as a tourist place.

Talking about CM Yogi's grand plans, Naik said that this is an attempt to restore Ayodhya's lost glory and present it beautifully.

Noting that Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after winning a war in Lanka, Naik said the state government wants to portray the same scene.

"I believe and you can imagine that those who visit Ayodhya, whether they are domestic or foreign tourists, they all carry a wish to see Lord Rama there. We hope the government will work keeping all the aspects in mind," the Governor was quoted as saying by the PTI.
