The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Murari Lal Tayal, who was Principal Secretary to former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Tayal, an 1976 batch IAS officer, was Principal Secretary to the chief minister between March 2005 and October 2009.

He was already under the CBI scanner in connection with a case of land allotment irregularities, has been booked along with his wife Savita, son Kartik and daughter Malvika — and a firm Kappac Pharma Limited.

The FIR, registered under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal code, alleges that Tayal amassed assets worth Rs 10 crore between 2006 and 2014 which he could not explain from his known sources of income. The CBI FIR says that a separate investigation revealed that Tayal acquired huge assets in the form of movable and immovable properties.
