The security forces on Saturday recovered a bullet-riddled body of a police constable abducted by terrorists on Friday night.

Salim Shah was abducted by terrorists in Kulgam and his body was recovered from Qaimoh Gath area in the district.

"Our colleague Salem Ahmed Shah was abducted and killed by terrorists in Kulgam. We condemn this cowardly act. We all stand by his family at this critical juncture," tweeted Kashmir police.

Salim who was on leave was allegedly abducted by unknown militants from his residence in the Mutalhama area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

Last month, bullet-riddled body of riffleman Aurangzeb was found at Gussu village, about 10 km from Kalampora in Pulwama district. He was belonging to 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and was posted at the 44 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Shadimarg in Shopian.

Terrorists were also seen grilling Aurangzeb moments before murder. A chilling video of 24-year-old riffleman had sent shock waves in the Kashmir Valley.

Terrorists were heard asking whether he was the guard of Major Rohit Shukla who was injured during an encounter in which Hizbul Mujahedeen Commander Sameer Ahmad Bhat alias Sameer Tiger was killed on April 30. “Who desecrated the bodies of Wasim and Talha”, asked the terrorists. “No I did not”, replied the Aurangzeb.

Earlier, Aurangzeb's family had made an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir government to eliminate militancy from the state and avenge his death.

‘My son has laid down his life for the country. He was a brave soldier. I and my sons will also sacrifice (ourselves) for the nation. We want goons to be wiped out,’ Mohammad Hanief, Aurangzeb's father and a former sepoy of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, had said.

Earlier in the day, militants also attacked a team of security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir by opening fire, but the attack was repulsed by them.

The militants attacked the security forces by opening fire upon them at the Bamzoo area of Mattan in south Kashmir district. A search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
