Bhopal to be the 'road model' for Rajasthan

The state government would follow the Bhopal Model of the roads for laying better roads in Rajasthan.

Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) Yunus Khan said on Thursday, “Roads of the state would be developed on the model of Bhopal.” A 12 member delegation of the state government had recently visited Bhopal and observed the roads there. “Cumulative efforts would be done by transport, PWD and home department to develop the roads. Assistance from world bank would also be taken for development of roads across the state,” Khan added.

The PWD minister said this while flagging off the Road Safety Week campaign by the transport department at Amar Jawan Jyoti.  Khan said, “To make the roads mishap free, we should have to curtail direct crossings that cause a majority of the accidents. A large number of people die in the road mishaps. It is of top most priority of the government to improve the conditions of dangerous stretches of roads.”

Transport commissioner Mukesh Sharma, additional senior transport commissioner Pawan Arora, regional transport officer Vimal Kumar Jain were also present on this occasion.
