Seeking to strike a chord with voters of Amristar, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who is set to make his debut in Lok Sabha polls from there, today turned nostalgic about the constituency in Punjab recalling his childhood days in the holy city.

"I have been extremely familiar with the city ever since my childhood. The city was home of my maternal grandparents and the family. My mother was born there. I spent some part of my childhood school vacations along with my mother at Amritsar," the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha wrote on his website.

Hailing the electoral culture of Punjab, he described the grand reception offered by his party and BJP ally SAD.

"The electoral culture of Punjab is a league of its own.

From drum beats to the Bhangra and showering of rose petals were expressions of welcome and joy," he added.

He also recalled the bursting of a bunch of gas balloons burst during his road show in Amristar on March 18.

"It created panic and minor injuries to some participants.

I suffered a minor burn sensation but there was no significant damage," he added.
