In a significant development, BJP National President Amit Shah on Friday made a flash visit to Mumbai to meet RSS General Secretary (Sarklaryawah) Bhaiyyaji Joshi and discussed with him the elections in five states.

The meeting between the two lasted for almost 90 minutes at Yashwant Bhavan, the RSS headquarters in Mumbai. Shah arrived at Mumbai airport and directly drove to Yashwant Bhavan to meet Joshi at around 11.15 am. BJP city unit president Ashish Shelar received Shah at the air port and accompanied him in car to Yashwant Bhavan. Krishna Gopal, the key person for the Uttar Pradesh elections, was also with Shah.

Pramod Bapat, the media coordinator of the Konkan division of RSS, informed DNA that Shah was in Mumbai for some other party work and just dropped in RSS office as a courtesy visit. Bapat said that it was an informal discussion since Shah had a leisure day after hectic electioneering in five states.

However, sources within RSS told DNA that it was the only meeting for which Shah flew to Mumbai. It is learnt that Shah apprised Joshi on possible outcomes and arrangements to be made thereafter. It is believed that Shah and Joshi discussed all the states threadbare and various plans in all likely outcomes of the elections.

The counting for assembly elections for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa is to be held on Saturday.

After meeting Joshi at Yashwannt Bhavan, Shah went back to Delhi. Shelar saw him off by accompanying him till Mumbai airport.
