With an aim to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, BJP National President Amit Shah is all set to visit Chandigarh on Saturday.

The visit is part of the 95-day tour, which he kicked off with a visit to Jammu on April 29.

Abuzz with preparations for his visit, large posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah were pasted outside the party’s newly renovated office, ‘Kamalam’ in Sector 33. Shah is expected to inaugurate the party office, which has a 400-seater auditorium and an e-digital library named after RSS leader Nanaji Deshmukh, with a collection of over 2,000 books.

While addressing a press conference here in Chandigarh, BJP National Vice-President Prabhat Jha said Shah will hold a series of meetings with councillors, local workers and members of various departments, including the party’s IT cell, and review the organisational set up. It will Shah’s first visit after the BJP’s resounding victory in the Municipal Corporation elections in December 2016.

City BJP chief Sanjay Tandon said a convoy of 200 cars and two-wheelers will escort Shah from the airport to the party office.
