Gujarat BJP's 'Gujarat Gaurav Maha Sampark Abhiyan' — a door-to-door voters' approach programme — was kickstarted by party national president Amit Shah on Tuesday. Shah visited his constituency Naranpura in Ahmedabad and met voters at their doorsteps. Shah began the campaign by seeking the blessings of Goddess Ambaji at the local temple and then started visiting voters in the campaign.

Shah distributed PM Narendra Modi's letter among the voters and sought their blessings too. Many elderly people whom Shah knew by name were happy to see the heavyweight leader at their doorstep.

A resident of Surya Appartments, Manoj Shah, said, "Amit Shah recognised me and I felt very happy when he called me taking my name. I was thinking he would have forgotten my face or my name but he came to my home, took my name and appealed to vote for BJP. This is a sign of his humility."

Besides Shah, 250 senior leaders of BJP and 60 lakh workers joined the campaign. They will visit different parts of the state from November 7 to 12 and approach the voters. Union ministers also will be visiting Gujarat for this campaign.

Meanwhile, Shah's procession with drums was proceeding in a middle class populated area of Naranpur during the campaign. At the same time, a condolence meeting was being held. When Shah saw people who came to attend the condolence meeting were disturbed due to noise created by the drums, he immediately called local workers and bashed them for creating a ruckus. He also begged pardon of the people for the incident.
