BJP today sought to play down its Haryana Minister Anil Vij's jibes on Twitter, saying media was trying to read "too much" into it and all was well between him and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Senior BJP leader and party's in-charge for Haryana affairs, Anil Jain, asserted that there were "no differences" between Vij and Khattar.

When asked about Anil Vij's recent tweets indicating that he was being sidelined, Jain said there was no such thing.

When specifically asked that Vij in one of his tweets had mentioned that he was not in politics to push the cart of the Congress party, implying that there was no difference in the policies of the previous Congress government and the ones being pursued by the present BJP government in the state, Jain said, "you (media) have read too much into this..".

On another of Vij's recent tweet, in which he mentioned "Thank You Chief Minister For Taking Keen Interest into My Departments. I am Relaxed," Jain said Vij was in Kerala in connection with recently concluded National Games and he had in, fact, thanked the CM for taking care of his Department in his absence.

"I talked to Chief Minister Khattar and Vij also, there are no differences between them. Vij was present in today's meeting for 3-4 hours. The atmosphere was friendly and cordial," Jain said.

Besides Khattar and Vij, most of the Ministers and MLAs took part in today's legislature party meet here, which was held at the Chief Minister's residence.

Facing a volley of questions over Vij's tweets, some of which have caused embarrassment to the ruling BJP, Jain did not agree that "Vij's actions" have "dented the government's image".

BJP formed government on its own in Haryana for the first time after the October 2014 assembly polls.

Vij, a five-time MLA and a popular face of the party in the state, was front runner for the chief minister's post.

However, the BJP chose Khattar, a first-time legislator from Karnal constituency and former RSS ideologue.

In recent weeks, Vij, the Ambala Cantt MLA, has taken to Twitter to vent his feelings after his party "ignored" him for the Chief Minister's post.

On the completion of 100 days in office by the Khattar government, Vij had tweeted saying some people were hell bent on stopping him from working his way but they will not succeed.

After the BJP's miserable show in the recently held Delhi assembly polls, Vij tweeted: "If instead of importing leaders (from other parties), the BJP had concentrated on promoting its own leadership in Delhi, the party would not have faced this situation in Delhi."
