With the upcoming preparations of the Rio Olympics, WHO has released guidelines to make sure that you stay healthy and safe.

In addition to routine vaccines (diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, hepatitis B, mumps etc) which vary from country to country, the WHO also recommends travellers get vaccinated against Hepatitis A, B, Typhoid fever, rabies and yellow fever.

Their advisory concerning Zika still stands as well, with pregnant women advised to stay home and away from Brazil, where the virus continues to circulate. Likewise, travellers are advised to practice safe sex or to abstain altogether during their stay in Brazil and eight weeks following their return. The Zika virus has been shown to be a sexually transmittable illness.

To avoid gastrointestinal infections which can be common in Brazil, travelers are also advised to wash their hands frequently, consume thoroughly cooked foods, choose bottled water, avoid buffet tables, markets, and street vendors.
