Gal Gadot, as promised, unveiled the new trailer for Wonder Woman during the slime filled evening of Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Sunday (IST). The trailer has now put the other DC movie under spotlight apart from Justice League.

The new trailer introduces baby Diana with mother Queen Hippolyta showing her the treasures of Themyscira, that includes lasso of truth, bracelets of submission, the sword of Athena, shield, and the armour. But this is all for her to look at, because to that child's face the mum says that she will not be the one who gets to wear it.

But as Diana grows, she trains under General Antiope on the Amazonian island as we hear Hippolyta's instructions in the background (in really bad accent, tbh. And I actually sometimes can't help but wonder how the British got to Themyscira for these people to learn the Queen's language.) about how she wants her daughter to learn the ways of the world they live in but she can never know who she is.

Cut to drowning Steve Trevor (who later gets to be shirtless, because that's the additional push to stoke a woman's curiosity to join a man's world, when the subsequent attack on her homeland is not enough) who brings her to London in the middle of World War I because world actually needs saving. It is here Diana fights with Doctor Poison and General Erich Ludendorff to save the world, to save humanity.

The trailer has been cut superbly. DC universe movies have always had amazing marketing strategies and sharp trailers (which give away the entire plot when a supercut is put together by the fans) to get the fans excited and then, as a result, create box office records (here's looking at you Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). No doubt that watching Wonder Woman whip out the lasso and wield a sword is enough to get the attention of the fans. Add bullets ricocheting off the cuffs and Diana kicking some serious ass.

This will be a fun watch and a refreshing change in the universe filled with men playing superheroes and supervillains. Because there is time for Cate Blanchett to take over in Thor: Ragnarok, Zoe Saldana's Gamora doesn't have her own space and same might be the case for Elizabeth Debicki's Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2; Captain Marvel hasn't even started shooting, Supergirl is a small-screen wonder, and Black Widow movie may never happen.

Directed by Patty Jenkins the movie stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Roin Wright, Elena Anaya, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner, David Thewlis, and Lucy Davis in leading roles.

The movie will release on June 2, 2017 before the Amazon joins Batfleck in the search for metahumans in Justice League.
