We are nearing the end of 2016 and a lot of potential blockbuster movies are coming to theatres near you in the next eight weeks or so. A big part of these releases will be hijacked by new heroes on the block. We have known classic icons like Batman, Superman, Iron Man and Wonder Woman. But there are always new ones coming up to create their own space in the crowded planes of fandoms.

Doctor Strange

The newest superhero from the house of Marvel is making his debut in their cinematic universe on November 4. The character of Dr Stephen Strange was created in 1963 by Stan Lee. The cocky surgeon-turned-superhero is on par with Iron Man when it comes to wit and charm. The character has always had a cult following. But with Scott Derrickson's resurrection for the big screen, Benedict Cumberbatch will stand tall in the movie.

The best part of the movie is the special effects. Since Doctor Strange and his band of sorcerers deal with the other dimensions, expect bending buildings, twisted mountains, untouched corners of space. Basically Inception dialed up to 100! Take me word for it, you do not want to miss this spectacle.

Magizoologist Newt Scamander

Get ready to lose yourself in JK Rowling's Harry Potter universe as it is set to expand with the tales of Newt Scamander.

A lot of us have read Rowling's 2001 book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Scamander is the Hufflepuff who studied and cared for magical creatures of the wizarding world. This franchise of five installments, starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt and Katherine Waterston as his future wife Porpentina Goldstein, will follow Scamander's journey, beginning with his troublesome stopover in New York while on a research trip around the globe.

Scamander's love for the creatures and possible turmoil (I'm trusting Rowling's skills of inventing back stories with a swish of a wand) will give us another hero to look upto after Harry, Ron, Hermione and gang.

Moana

Disney's new princess from Oceania is on a quest of self-realisation. Sounds very philosophic, doesn't it? Don't go by what you hear.

Moana wants to be a master wayfinder, just like her ancestors, because a 'great danger' threatens the peaceful lifestyle of her island. To save her people she needs to find a demigod named Maui, because, according to a prophecy, together they will save everyone.

The ocean is friend of Moana. Maui, not so much. Therefore it will be fun a ride to see Moana rise to the occasion and reach the hearts of viewers.

Jyn Erso

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a HUGE hit in December 2015. The spectacle made a fan out of non-believers too. Now follows a standalone movie in this multi-medium franchise which gives you another new hero- a rebel.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story brings you Jyn Erso who has lost her family all thanks to the Empire and their plan to build the most destructive galactic weapon, the 'Death Star'. She is then rescued by the Rebels who intend on destroying that WMD and reset the order of the universe.

Fans of the franchise, (probably your mum and dad or nerdy folks around you) already know the outcome of what happened to the Death Star because of the original trilogy. But Rogue One will give you a chance to understand the Star Wars universe without having to argue about or waiting to fill in the blanks with your imagination.

Callum Lynch/Aguilar

Assassin's Creed, the action-adventure game you are all too familiar with, is coming to the big screen. The protagonist is Callum Lynch who is standing up to the Templar organisation's desire to control the world in order to achieve peace.

The Templars and Lynch's rag tag band of assassins want the same thing. Their method of getting it makes all the difference. No doubt it will be a good experience to watch the 'Leap of Faith' done by real men, but it will be nice to see where your loyalites lie.
