Manoj Bajpayee to turn producer

There are speculations that Manoj Bajpayee is all set to flag off his production house with a film on Mahatma Gandhi on Independence Day. He refutes the rumours, but says that he has already locked three scripts. “August 15 is less than a month away, we still need three-four months to finalise everything.
Hopefully, by the end of the year the banner will be flying,” he says.

The reason for starting a production company is not to give himself work. “All these years I’ve just gone out, done my role and come back home waiting till the next film. Now, I want to bring my office into my home. And this time I’ll be creatively involved with all departments of filmmaking,” he explains.

He says that even his wife Shabana, aka Neha, will have the freedom to do anything. “She can pick up any role she wants,” he says. What about him? “I’m no longer 25, if the story demands a younger actor, we’ll opt for someone else. Only if there’s something that suits me, will I take it on,” he asserts.

Will his mentor Ram Gopal Varma direct for his banner? “I will crawl to Ramu’s door to get his nod if there’s a project worthy of him. Whatever I am today is because of him,” he says.
