Zarine Khan has lost some serious weight. The actress who made her debut in Veer (2010) and was then seen in an item song in Ready (Character Dheela Hai) disappeared after being part of the multi-starrer Housefull 2 last year. She has now surfaced in a simmer avatar. She will next be seen in a film called Amar Must Die with Rajeev Khandelwal.

Produced by Remo, this film is said to be the Hindi remake of the Jason Statham-starrer Crank.

Zarine has always drawn flak for her weight. But when asked if she has lost on films because of that, she sidesteps the query with, “I love my body the way it is. I think the industry has entered into a phase where if you are just a skinny girl with a pretty face, you won’t make the cut. The audiences want a real girl with an edge and personality. And I guess the industry has realised that as well.”

Zarine, who has always been on the heftier side, swears that she lost all her weight in a natural way. “I hate the concept of dieting. I think it’s very unrealistic. I don’t deny myself anything. I stick to a high protein diet which has a lot of veggies and juices. I am obsessed with drinking a lot of water. I needed to make fitness a part of my lifestyle. I can never workout for an hour at a stretch so my trainers create 20-minute workouts for me.”

The actress further reveals she started off with strength training and cardio to get her metabolic rate up and then moved on to pilates. “Pilates is very challenging and that is what I like about it. It’s fun and hardly feels like exercise. I’ve recently started yoga with Twinkle Singh and she has completely changed my body. It has toned me up and stretched my muscles. There is a definite transformation. Since there is no equipment used, it is something I can do even in my hotel room when I am travelling so I can stay committed.”
