Amala Paul will bag the National Award for 'Amma Kanakku', says Dhanush

Amala Paul plays the mother to a 13-year-old in the movie and gave her nod as soon as she saw the film 'Nil Battey Sannata'.

    Actor and producer Dhanush was so impressed with director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Nil Battey Sannata that he signed her on for the Tamil remake under his production house. Amala Paul, Revathi and Samuthirakani star in the Tamil version of the film whereas in Hindi it was Swara Bhaskar, Ria Shukla, Ratna Pathak, Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjay Suri.

    The Hindi film opened to critical acclaim and director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Swara Bhaskar were applauded for their work in the film. Actress Amala Paul takes on Swara Bhaskar's role in Tamil and Dhanush raved about her performance in the film. At a recent press meet, Dhanush stated that Amala Paul could win the National Award for the role.

    The movie is a 'real story about real people' and talks about the relationship between a mother and her daughter. Amala Paul plays the mother to a 13-year-old in the movie and she gave her nod as soon as she saw the film. It was a bold decision she took, considering her young age, but the scope for performance is said to be tremendous. 

    Raanjhana director Aanand L Rai produced the Hindi version of the film and when he showed Dhanush the movie, they decided to collaborate and work on the Tamil version. The Hindi film was set in Agra, but this film is set in Chennai and has now been completed.
