A day after Uber fired their Asia-Pacific President, Eric Alexander, for accessing the medical reports of a 27-year-old woman who was raped by an Uber driver in India in December, 2014, the mother of the victim betrayed no emotion when queried about her reaction to the development on Thursday.

According to sources, Alexander procured the victim's medical legal certificate and even showed it to the top officers at Uber, to prove that the woman was lying.

Comfortable on her couch, the mother, who witnessed her daughter go through trauma for years after the gruesome incident, seemed indifferent to Alexander's ouster. "The only thing that matters to us is that the person who committed this deplorable crime should be brought to justice. It doesn't matter to us whether they sack him or something else," she said.

According to media reports, Alexander showed the woman's medical reports to Chief Executive Officer Travis Kalanick and Senior Vice-President Emil Michael. Other employees at the company were shown it as well. It has been reported that they were told that rape charges were levelled against the company driver to malign the image of the firm, and that the complainant was lying.

Alexander further told his colleagues that the report did not indicate any physical damage to the woman, and hence the rape claim was contradictory. The company then fired him and questions are now being raised on how he managed to get these documents. Coincidentally, he was also a witness in the case and was called for questioning by the Delhi Police. More information about the accused driver, Shiv Kumar, was procured from him.

"My daughter was fearless. Even if her father or I were wrong, she would always stand with the right and spoke her mind truthfully," the mother said.
